PhD Opportunities

If you are a prospective PhD student interested in working with me, I encourage you to apply to the PhD Programmes in Business Administration at the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at the University of Macau (UM). Please indicate your interest in working with me in your application.

Please note that you can apply for scholarships only in the 1st and 2nd batches of PhD admissions each year. There might be potential Research Assistant positions but you would need to check with the Graduate School.

Each year, the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) hosts a summer camp for prospective PhD students. You may consider applying to this program to get a sense of our university and the PhD program.

Before reaching out to me, I kindly ask that you review my research page to familiarize yourself with my research interests and topics. Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions in this form and send me a copy, alongside your CV and transcripts. Please note that acceptance into the PhD program is highly competitive, and success cannot be guaranteed.

Sustainability-Related Research Resources

The Network for Business Sustainability (NBS) is a non-profit advancing sustainable development to build a fairer and more environmentally sound future. They aim to improve business practice by facilitating knowledge sharing across an international community of business leaders, scholars, students and policy makers. With these stakeholders, NBS co-create high-quality content that enables practical action. Their content focuses on 6 critical sustainability themes, from climate change to social justice. Each month, more than 40,000 people from around the world engage with their work. NBS also facilitate a community of 190+ sustainability research centers in business schools around the world.

The Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (ARCS) is a partnership among academic institutions created to provide data and networking opportunities to facilitate research on corporate sustainability. As environmental issues have grown in complexity and scope, there is growing recognition that to gain ground on our most pressing environmental issues will require the proactive engagement and leadership of the business sector. ARCS helps develop greater understanding of the opportunities and limits of policies and strategies to create sustainable businesses by facilitating rigorous academic research.

The Group for Research on Organizations and the Natural Environment (GRONEN) is an open network of engaged scholars focused on high quality research regarding organizations and the natural environment. GRONEN aims to contribute to societal progress in a non-linear changing world.

The Impact Scholar Community is a community for early-career research scholars who want to connect research to impact. The community is supported by the Academy of Management (AOM) and hosted by the Organization and the Natural Environment AOM division.

Qualitative Research Resources

The Ethnography Atelier is a collaborative space that promotes ethnographic and other qualitative research in work and organizations. Please check out the “Ethnography Atelier Syllabus: A Guide to the Atelier’s Resources“. The syllabus contains a list of our workshop videos, podcasts, and posts—by theme—so you can consult them according to your needs and interests. 

New Scholars aims to nurture management scholarship, which moves the world. They organize discussions between established and emerging scholars to explore ideas and discuss insights that stimulate a richer and more meaningful management scholarship.
